TR to be at SMMT Meet The Buyer event - 12th May 2015

The Automotive event designed to match OEM sourcing demand to local suppliers.

TR Fastenings will be attending this premier event for Automotive suppliers in the UK on the 12th May in central London. TR will be showcasing its extensive portfolio of products, licenses and services, including its own branded range of sheet metal fasteners, a comprehensive Plastic range for Cable Management, plus its extensive range of drive forms.

TR Fastenings already owns the Pozidriv® trademark for the UK, Pozi ® in the EU, as well as the MAThread® and Torx® licences. They have recently signed an agreement with Phillips Screw Company whereby it will manufacture, under licence, Phillips’ complete range of industrial drive systems. These include the recently introduced Mortorq® Super Spiral Drive Recess, which provides customers with the ability to reduce the head height and save weight; timely when the automotive industry is particularly keen to take weight out of vehicles and improve emissions.

The automotive sector is hugely important to the UK economy, employing over 730,000 people and investing over £1.7bn in R&D every year.

The strength and capability of the automotive supply chain is a crucial factor in driving growth and attracting inward investment. There is still a continued interest and commitment from global vehicle manufacturers (OEMs) and now increasing interest from the UK’s Tier 1 suppliers to source more components in the UK and in response to these needs, SMMT hosts the Meet the Buyer events. These events are designed to match OEM sourcing demand to local suppliers and help to retain and build supply chain relationships.

Last years Meet the Buyer event in June 2014 in partnership with UKTI’s Automotive Investment Organisation, was the biggest yet with over 400 delegates representing 210 unique companies, and 22 OEM and Tier 1 buying organisations. Over 360 appointments were facilitated on the day at ExCeL London.
